Giving the DMA

15 January, 2010

The Developmental Math Assessment is a classroom-based assessment. During the DMA, carefully developed and field-tested procedures, materials, and tasks are presented to help the teacher gain knowledge about children’s understandings of important mathematics concepts. The assessment is conducted in four steps.
1. Plan – Prepare for when and where the assessment will be given.
2. Prepare Materials – Make copies of blacklines needed
3. Conduct the Assessment – Easy to follow directions are given
4. Analyze results and plan guided follow-up instruction.
